Introduction
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. Over the years, WABA has successfully coordinated several global campaigns such as World Breastfeeding Week, Maternity Protection, Global Initiative for Mother Support to name a few. In more recent years, work has focused on social mobilisation along thematic issues, capacity building and global advocacy on issues where there are gaps in leadership. A very recent example is the participation of almost 6,000 health advocates in the Women Deliver conference. WABA and partners from the Global Breastfeeding Advocacy Initiative highlighted breastfeeding and firmly positioned it as part of the global reproductive health agenda.
